Psalm 112
Hey New Life,
Merry Christmas Eve! Hope to see you all tomorrow for our Christmas Day Worship @10a! Our Daily Bible passage for today comes from Psalm 112:1-10, where we see a tension in this psalm for the righteous man.
In the beginning, we see the blessings of righteousness: offspring, wealth, riches, and eternity (vv. 2-3). In the end, we see bad news, adversaries, and wickedness against the righteous man (vv. 7, 8, 10).
Both are true in Christ. In Him, we have a great family, heavenly riches, and eternal life. But on earth, we will encounter bad news, adversaries, and wickedness.
But in the midst of hardship, we are able display righteousness by dealing generously (v. 5), being just (v. 5), being steadfast (v. 6, 8), and trusting the Lord (v. 7).
We are able to do this through the ultimate righteous man who lived in this way perfectly in the face of humiliation, opposition, injustice, and wickedness. He did it to save a sinful people like us. And now, in Him, we are able to display His heart of righteousness and grace to the world.
Merry Christmas!
In Christ
Pastor Tim
