POINTS

1.) The cost of following Jesus is self

2.) The gain of following Jesus is God

  • Purpose in God

  • Security in God

REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS

1.) Read Mark 8:34. What did Jesus mean by denying self? What did Jesus mean by taking up your cross?

2.) What are some desires in your heart that compete with your allegiance to Jesus? How might you bring that desire under submission to Christ's rule?

3.) In Christian living, taking something away only works when something greater is added. What do Christians stand to gain when they give up their lives to follow Jesus? How might the Christian live in/out of this gain?

4.) What are some practical ways you might share the Gospel in witness or discipleship in your circles today?

PRAYER TOPICS

Our Leaders

Let us pray for our officers and Core leaders who have and are serving faithfully and sacrificially. Let us pray for wisdom and strength during this time of transition.

Our Members

Let us pray for one another. There are those who are crippled by their emotional hardship, struggling with their sin, and experiencing great trials. Let us pray for grace for our members and unity for our ministry.

Worship

Pray for the corporate and private worship of our people. Let us worship the Lord together on Sundays and in our everyday lives through our thoughts, actions, and words. May our corporate worship inspire our private worship, and may our private worship prepare our hearts for our corporate worship.
