Joshua 9
Hey New Life,
Happy Tuesday! Our Daily Bible devo for today comes from Joshua 9 which is a rather interesting passage. The Gibeonites were Canaanites who were destined for destruction. But they deceive the leaders of Israel to make a covenant with them, and because of that covenant, they are saved. They are made to serve as woodcutters and water drawers for the congregation and the altar of the Lord. In their salvation, they become servants and participate in the worship of God.
Does this story sound familiar? It should, because it points to our story. We deserve judgment and destruction because of our sin. But by the covenant of grace, God sends a Redeemer to save us. He took on our judgment, guilt, and shame to liberate us. He was destroyed to give us life. And now, we are made servants, following the ultimate Suffering Servant, Jesus Christ, who brings us into the worship of God.
Friends, take a moment today to praise and thank God for His amazing grace. His covenant is our secure foundation. Jesus' person and work is our assurance. May this lead you to service and glory onto the Lord!
In Christ,
Pastor Tim
