After Peter receives commendation for his profession of Jesus as the Christ, Jesus begins to teach about what this means. It’s His suffering, death, and resurrection. This is the gospel for us, and it is the center of our faith and church. As we trust in this gospel, we are to take up our cross and follow Him. This is rooted in the beauty of the gospel for us.
