All is Vanity, Part One
Ecclesiastes is written by King Solomon, the preacher, who experienced all that life has to offer. The pursuit of significance, work, pleasure, riches, life, and even wisdom are all vanity, apart from God. Vanity (meaning vapor, smoke, breath) points to the brevity, elusivity, and futility of life. Christ took on all vanity in His life and death in order to give life, meaning, and hope for us through the resurrection.
